Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Galatians 6:9
The one who teaches and the one who is taught alike are to practise the good that is being taught: that is, to believe in the Lord’s work of freeing us from whatever background or destination we used to have, and to live that belief by putting it into practice in everyday life. In context, this is to be done by carrying my own load through carrying a brother’s burden, just as our Lord has carried his load of carrying my burden off my back (vs. 1–5). I am able to repeat to others what my Lord has done to me, not because I am able, but because the Holy Spirit comes by and pastes (imparts) the Lord’s strength to me. This is the Father’s pleasing will.
Therefore, you do not judge people for what they used to be. You do not even judge yourself for what you used to be. If you sow your judgement, you will only get what springs up from it. But be changed in how you make your judgement because the Lord has changed the course already! Sow his judgement and his action. For this reason, we do not delay things that come to our attention anymore but get every bit of help that we can get to do something about them. We should be wise as a serpent and innocent as a dove. We cannot postpone it any longer. We need to be strategic.
Lord, Let me live today to know what it might look like in practice and praise you for it. Give me the heart to carry a close brother’s burden. Let me withdraw my judgement on him. Let me cancel my curse. Let me understand that by carrying his burden, I am carrying my own load—taking up my own cross and following you (Matt 16:24). Oh my Lord, only if I can do this! Then, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. O Lord, have mercy on me! Be gracious to me so that I may take part in the work you have already done for us.
