Ephesians 에베소서 4.1–18

But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it.

우리 각 사람에게 그리스도의 선물의 분량대로 은혜를 주셨나니 

Ephesians 4:7

With such full power at work to turn us to love Christ, Christ gives us grace as he has apportioned it to each of us. When we hear that he has ‘apportioned’ it, it kind of removes the overwhelming emotion of gratitude and makes us suddenly go cold, saying, ‘I knew it’ in slight bitterness. But don’t worry. God’s grace is infinite; however you ‘apportion’ it, it remains infinite. So no grumbling, and no excuse either. No matter at which ‘position’ you receive your ‘portion’, you can be fully humble, gentle, and patient, bearing with one another in love (v. 2). Because Christ himself binds us. Live in accordance with this calling, appreciating your humbleness and gentleness today. Whatever your position today is, see and be surprised at how patient you can be. Christ is at work!

우리로 하여금 그리스도를 사랑할 수 있도록 변화시키는 풀 파워^{full power}와 더불어 그리스도께서는 우리에게 각 사람에게 분량대로 은혜를 주셨다. ‘분량대로’ ^apportioned 라는 말을 들으면 왠지 벅찬 감사의 마음이 사라지고, 조금은 씁쓸하게 ‘그럼 그렇지’ 하며 갑자기 냉랭해진다. 하지만 걱정할 필요 없다. 하나님의 은혜는 무한대이다. 아무리 ‘분량’대로 나눈다 해도 무한한 상태로 유지된다. 그러니 불평이나 변명의 여지가 없다. 내가 어떤 상황이나 처지에서 내 ‘분량’을 받든 우리는 충분히 겸손과 온유와 오래 참음으로 사랑 가운데서 서로 용납할 수 있다(2절). 왜냐하면 그리스도 자신이 우리를 묶으시기 때문이다. 오늘 나의 겸손함과 온유함을 제대로 인식하며, 이 소명에 따라 생활해보라. 오늘날 나의 처지가 무엇이든, 내가 얼마나 인내할 수 있는 사람인지 보고 놀라보라. 그리스도께서 일하고 계신다!

• As a person God is working with to fill towards his fullness (3:19), why should you display the characters named in v. 2? 하나님께서 자신의 충만함을 채우기 위해 함께 일하시는 사람으로서(3:19) 나는 왜 2절에서 말하는 성품들을 드러내야 하나요?

• What is the gift Christ intended to give out (v. 8) as he went through the crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension? 그리스도께서 십자가에 죽으시고 부활하시고 승천하심으로 주시려고 하신 선물은 무엇인가요(8절)?

• How much of his grace do you think Christ has apportioned to you? How much of it can you apportion to others in turn, and how? Would it run out? 그리스도께서 당신에게 은혜를 얼마나 나누어 주셨다고 생각하나요? 당신은 그 중 얼마만큼을, 그리고 어떻게, 다른 사람에게 다시 나누어 줄 수 있나요? 다 떨어질 수도 있을까요?
