Ephesians 에베소서 6.10–14

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

종말로 너희가 주 안에서와 그 힘의 능력으로 강건하여지고 마귀의 궤계를 능히 대적하기 위하여 하나님의 전신갑주를 입으라

Ephesians 6:10, 11

Finally, ‘be strong!’ We’ve heard this many times in the Bible, from the Old Testament to the New Testament. It was always said directly or assumed with the ground clause, ‘for I am with you!’ Here in Eph. 6, we are reminded to be strong. Not only are we with the Lord, but now we are in him! And in his mighty power! (v.10) ‘In him’ and ‘in his mighty power’ signify that we are united to him by the faith he gave us. So we are ONE with him—all the more reason to stay strong and stand your ground! As we are one with him, we are not deliberately putting on the ‘full set armour (panoplia)’ ourselves. Because we are one with him, we are also in the state of wearing the armour HE himself wore when he saved us and gave us faith (Isa. 11:5). We are in him who waited and long-suffered for eternity to save us. In him, the fiery arrows of the evil one cannot reach me (v. 16). Notice, therefore, that the only offensive arm is the sword, which is the Holy Spirit. Even now, He is the One who is fighting for me while I take refuge.

Lord, let me consciously remember that I am IN YOU. I am protected and fought for. Let me not fight before you. Let me live out the peace you have given me through Christ. Amen.

종말로, 마지막으로, ‘강하라 (강건하라)!’ 우리는 구약부터 신약까지 성경에서 이 말을 여러 번 들어왔다. 이 말은 항상 직접적으로 또는 암시적으로 ‘내가 너와 함께 할 것이기 때문에’라는 근거 절과 함께 주어졌다. 에베소서 6장도 우리가 강해야 함과 그 이유를 다시 떠올리게 한다. 우리는 주와 함께 있을 뿐만 아니라 이제 주 안에 있다! 그리고 주의 힘의 능력 안에 있다(10절)! ‘주 안에서’ 그리고 ‘주의 힘의 능력 안에서’라는 말은 우리가 주께서 주신 믿음으로 주와 연합되었음을 의미한다. 그래서 우리는 주와 완전히 하나이고, 이것이 우리 강하고 꿋꿋이 서야 할 모든, 더 큰 이유이다! 주와 연합된 하나이기 때문에, 우리는 일부러 ‘전신갑주(파노플리아)’를 따로 장착하는 것이 아니다. 우리가 주와 하나이란 말은 주께서 우리를 구원하시고 믿음을 주실 때 친히 입으신 그 전신갑주를 우리 또한 입고 있는 상태이란 말이기도 하다 (사 11:5). 우리를 구하시기 위해 영원토록 기다리시고 오래 참으셨던 그 주님 안에 우리가 있다. 그 안에 있으면 악한 자의 불화살(화전)이 나에게 닿지 못한다 (16절). 그러므로, 주목할 점은, 유일한 공격 무기는 검, 곧 성령님이라는 점이다. 지금도 내가 피난처 안에 있는 동안 나를 위해 싸우시는 분이 바로 성령이시다.

주님, 제가 주님 안에 있음을 의식적으로 기억하게 하소서. 나는 주께 보호받고 주께서 저를 위해 대신 싸워오셨습니다. 내가 주 앞으로 나가 싸우지 않게 해 주소서. 하나님께서 그리스도를 통해 나에게 주신 평화를 살아내게 하소서. 아멘.

• What moments will you need to remember the most that you are in the Lord and therefore can stay strong and courageous? 내가 주 안에 있고 그러므로 강하고 담대할 수 있다는 사실을 기억해야 할 순간은 언제인가요?
