04 열쇠 분실_고백과 우리 자신에 대한 진실 중에서…
우리 중 누군가는 회개라는 단어를 들으면 특별한 감정적 경험이나 부흥 집회에서 연단 앞으로 초대할 때 부르는 단조의 찬양 멜로디를 떠올린다. 그러나 회개와 믿음은 그리스도인의 삶에서 지속되는 일상의 리듬이며 우리가 들이마시고 내쉬는 숨과 같다. 내가 길을 잃었고 깨어진 존재임이 드러나는 이 작은 순간들에, 나는 나 자신을 정당화하거나 죄를 축소하기 위해 달려가는 대신 내가 누구인지에 관한 진리를 받아들이는 습관을 발전시켜야 한다. 동시에, 깨어지고 길을 잃은 존재로서 나는 그분의 자비를 다시 한번 신뢰하고, 나를 향한 그분의 용서와 죄사함의 말씀을 받아들임으로써 하나님이 나를 사랑하실 수 있도록 해 드리는 습관을 형성해야 한다.

월마다 일어났으며, 40대가 되자 ‘하루에 네 번 정도’ 일어났다. 회개는 극적인 드라마의 한순간이 아니다. 그것은 그리스도와 함께하는 삶에서 꾸준히 울리는 북소리이며, 그러므로 그리스도 안에서의 일상이다.
For some of us, the idea of repentance can bring to mind a particular emotional experience, or the minor-key songs of an altar call at a revival meeting. But repentance and faith are the constant, daily rhythms of the Christian life, our breathing out and breathing in.In these small moments that reveal my lostness and brokenness, I need to develop the habit of admitting the truth of who I am—not running to justify myself or minimize my sin. And yet, in my brokenness and lostness, I also need to form the habit of letting God love me, trusting again in his mercy, and receiving again his words of forgiveness and absolution over me. Rich Mullins, one of my favorite writers and musicians, said that when he was a kid he’d walk down the church aisle and be “born again again” or “rededicate” his life to Christ every year at camp. In college he’d do it about every six months, then quarterly; by the time he was in his forties it was “about four times a day.” Repentance is not usually a moment wrought in high drama. It is the steady drumbeat of a life in Christ and, therefore, a day in Christ.
