다윗에게 ‘내 의의 하나님’이란 자신을 곤란에서 구원하시고 너그럽게 대하신 분이기도 하시지만, 그의 죄를 끝까지 추궁하시고 합당하게 심판하신 분이기도 하십니다. 다윗이 고백하는 하나님의 의로우심은 사람이나 상황에 따라 굽히지 않으시는 하나님의 변함없는 성품입니다. 하나님의 은혜와 너그러우심 또한 이러한 의로우신 심판 위에 기초합니다. 의로우신 하나님 앞에 나아가는 사람은 자신의 뜻에 따라 하나님께 관용을 구하는 것이 아니라, 하나님의 말씀에 충성스럽게 순종하는 관계에 서는 태도를 가집니다. 우리가 의뢰하고 순종해야 할 참된 권위는 사람이나 제도가 아니라 하나님 자신이십니다. 그 하나님을 앎으로 다윗이 누린 ‘기쁨’은 세상의 풍요나 형편에 좌우되지 않고, 생사화복을 넘어서는 참된 평안입니다. 하나님은 오늘 우리도 의의 제사를 드리며 이러한 기쁨을 누리도록 초대하십니다.
For David, the “God of my righteousness” is not only the One who delivered him from distress and treated him generously, but also the One who relentlessly called him to account for his sins and judged him as he deserved. The righteousness of God that David confesses is His unchanging character, which never bends according to people or circumstances. God’s grace and generosity are also grounded in this righteous judgment. Those who come before the righteous God do not seek His leniency on their own terms, but take their place in a relationship of faithful obedience to His Word. The true authority in whom we must trust and whom we must obey is not any person or institution, but God Himself. The joy David experienced through knowing this God was a true peace that transcended life and death, prosperity and adversity, and was not dependent on worldly abundance or circumstances. Today, God invites us, too, to offer the sacrifice of righteousness and share in this joy.

1. 다윗은 자신의 죄를 끝까지 심판하시는 하나님을 ‘내 의의 하나님’이라고 불렀습니다. 나는 하나님의 의로우심을 어떻게 이해하고 있습니까? 하나님의 은혜와 너그러우심을 기대하면서도 그분의 의로우신 판단은 피하고 싶었던 적이 있습니까?
David called the God who relentlessly judged him for his sins “the God of my righteousness.” How do I understand God’s righteousness? Have there been times when I hoped for God’s grace and generosity but wanted to avoid His righteous judgment?
2. 다윗은 의의 제사를 드리고 여호와를 의뢰하라고 말합니다. 의의 제사를 ‘사람은 자신의 뜻에 따라 하나님께 관용을 구하는 것이 아니라, 하나님의 말씀에 충성스럽게 순종하는 관계에 서는 태도’라고 정의할 때, 나에게 있어 의의 제사를 드린다는 것은 무엇을 의미합니까?
David tells us to offer the sacrifice of righteousness and trust in the LORD. If we define the sacrifice of righteousness as an attitude of faithful obedience to God’s Word, rather than seeking God’s leniency on our own terms, what does offering such a sacrifice mean for me personally?
3. 다윗은 곡식과 새 포도주가 풍성할 때보다 더 큰 기쁨을 하나님께로부터 얻었다고 고백했습니다. 지금 나의 기쁨과 평안을 좌우하는 것은 무엇입니까? 의의 하나님께 순종하는 것이 어떻게 세상의 형편을 넘어서는 기쁨으로 이어질 수 있을까요?
David confessed that God had given him greater joy than people experience when their grain and new wine abound. What determines my joy and peace at present? How can obedience to the God of righteousness lead to a joy that transcends our worldly circumstances?
