[인트로]
우리는 성경을 읽으면서도 자주 내가 보고 싶은 것, 내가 얻고 싶은 것을 먼저 찾습니다. 오병이어를 읽을 때에도 우리의 눈은 배고픈 사람과 떡, 놀라운 기적과 그로 인해 얻은 유익에 머물기 쉽습니다. 그러나 요한은 우리의 시선을 그 모든 것을 지나 생명의 떡이신 예수님 자신에게로 이끕니다. 유월절을 앞두고 떡을 들어 나누어 주신 예수님은 장차 십자가에서 자신의 몸을 내어주실 분입니다. 하나님은 우리에게 필요한 무엇인가를 주시고 멀리 계시는 분이 아니라, 자기 자신을 우리에게 내어주시는 분입니다. 그리고 모두가 배불리 먹은 뒤에도 열두 광주리가 남았다는 것은, 그렇게 주어진 하나님의 은혜가 부족하지 않고 오히려 넘치고 있음을 보여줍니다.
그렇다면 우리는 이제 내가 얼마나 받았는지를 세는 데서 멈추지 않고, 아직도 남아 있는 은혜가 어디를 향하고 있는지 바라보게 됩니다. 이스라엘을 먹이고도 남 열두 광주리처럼, 하나님의 은혜는 이미 그 안에 있는 자들에게만 머물지 않고 아직 돌아오지 않은 자들을 향합니다. 니느웨를 불쌍히 여기신 하나님, 잃은 한 마리 양을 찾아 나서는 목자, 상에서 떨어지는 부스러기로도 이방 여인의 딸을 살리신 예수님에게서 우리는 같은 하나님의 마음을 봅니다. 사람의 계산은 언제나 부족함에서 시작하지만, 하나님의 은혜는 넘침으로 끝납니다. 그러므로 오늘 말씀은 떡을 찾던 우리의 눈을 들어 자신을 생명의 떡으로 내어주시고, 우리를 먹이고 세상을 살리고도 남는 예수 그리스도의 은혜를 바라보도록 초대합니다.
We often come to Scripture looking first for what we want to see and what we hope to receive. When we read the story of the five loaves and two fish, our eyes are easily drawn to the hungry crowd, the bread, and the miracle itself. But John leads our eyes beyond all these things to Jesus Himself, the Bread of Life. As Passover approached, Jesus took the bread, gave thanks, and distributed it—a sign pointing ahead to the day when He would give His own body on the cross. God is not One who simply gives us what we need and then remains at a distance. He is the God who gives Himself to us. This is grace. And when everyone had eaten and was satisfied, twelve baskets were still left over. His grace had not run short; it overflowed.
And so we are invited to look beyond how much grace we ourselves have received and to see where this grace that still remains is going. Twelve baskets—enough to feed Israel and still have more to spare—show us a grace that does not remain only with those who are already inside, but reaches outward toward those who have not yet returned. We see the same heart of God in His compassion for Nineveh, in the shepherd who goes after the one lost sheep, and in Jesus whose grace was more than enough even in the crumbs that fell from the table. Human calculations begin with what is lacking, but God’s grace ends in abundance. Today’s passage therefore invites us to lift our eyes from the bread we seek and behold Jesus Christ, who gives Himself as the Bread of Life—grace enough to feed us, and still more than enough to give life to the world.

1. 나는 하나님을 찾을 때 무엇을 가장 먼저 기대하고 있습니까? 문제의 해결이나 필요한 ‘떡’을 기대하고 있지는 않은지, 그리고 오늘 말씀처럼 그 떡을 지나 생명의 떡으로 자신을 내어주시는 예수님 자신을 바라본다면 하나님과 나의 관계가 어떻게 달라질 수 있을지 묵상해 보십시오. When I come to God, what am I hoping for first? Am I mainly looking for the “bread” that will solve my problems or meet my needs? How might my relationship with God change if, as today’s message invites us to do, I look beyond the bread and turn my eyes to Jesus Himself, who gives Himself to us as the Bread of Life?
2. 나는 요즘 내게 부족한 것을 더 많이 바라보고 있습니까, 아니면 아직도 남아 있는 하나님의 은혜를 바라보고 있습니까? 모두가 먹고도 남은 열두 광주리처럼, 하나님께서 내게 주신 은혜 가운데 아직 다른 누군가에게 흘러갈 수 있는 것은 무엇인지 생각해 보십시오. 그리고 그 은혜가 지금 누구를 향하고 있다고 생각하는지 함께 나누어 보십시오. These days, am I more focused on what is lacking in my life, or on the grace of God that still remains? Just as twelve baskets remained after everyone had eaten, what grace has God given me that can still flow toward someone else? Who might God be leading that grace toward today?
