사사기 20-21장

백성이 벧엘에 이르러 거기서 저녁까지 하나님 앞에 앉아서 큰 소리로 울며
이르되 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와여 어찌하여 이스라엘에 이런 일이 생겨서 오늘 이스라엘 중에 한 지파가 없어지게 하시나이까 하더니

The people went to Bethel, where they sat before God until evening, raising their voices and weeping bitterly.
“O LORD, the God of Israel,” they cried, “why has this happened to Israel? Why should one tribe be missing from Israel today?”

Toen de mannen in Bet-El waren gekomen, bleven ze daar tot de avond bij de Heer treuren. Ze huilden luid en zeiden: “Waarom, Heer, God van Israël, is dit in Israël gebeurd? Nu is er een hele stam uit Israël verdwenen!”

21:2-3

베냐민 자손이 그같이 행하여 춤추는 여자들 중에서 자기들의 숫자대로 붙들어 아내로 삼아 자기 기업에 돌아가서 성읍들을 건축하고 거기에 거주하였더라
그 때에 이스라엘 자손이 그 곳에서 각기 자기의 지파, 자기의 가족에게로 돌아갔으니 곧 각기 그 곳에서 나와서 자기의 기업으로 돌아갔더라
그 때에 이스라엘에 왕이 없으므로 사람이 각기 자기의 소견에 옳은 대로 행하였더라

So that is what the Benjamites did. While the girls were dancing, each man caught one and carried her off to be his wife. Then they returned to their inheritance and rebuilt the towns and settled in them.
At that time the Israelites left that place and went home to their tribes and clans, each to his own inheritance.
In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as he saw fit.

En de mannen van de stam van Benjamin deden dit. Ze ontvoerden allemaal één van de dansende meisjes, om een vrouw te hebben. Toen gingen ze terug naar hun gebied. Ze herbouwden hun steden en gingen er wonen. Toen gingen ook de Israëlieten allemaal naar huis, ieder naar het gebied van zijn eigen stam en zijn eigen familie. In die tijd was er geen koning in Israël. Iedereen deed wat hij wilde.

21:23-25

In the days when the judges ruled, there was a famine in the land, and a man from Bethlehem in Judah, together with his wife and two sons, went to live for a while in the country of Moab…. When she heard in Moab that the LORD had come to the aid of his people by providing food for them, Naomi and her daughters-in-law prepared to return home from there.

In de tijd dat Israël werd geleid door richters,[a] was er op een keer hongersnood in het land. In Betlehem, in het gebied van de stam van Juda, woonde een man die Elimelech heette. Omdat er geen eten meer was, trok hij met zijn vrouw en zijn twee zonen naar het land Moab.… Ze besloot om met de twee vrouwen van haar zonen uit Moab te vertrekken. Ze wilde teruggaan naar haar eigen land. Want ze had in Moab gehoord dat de Heer ervoor gezorgd had dat er weer eten was in Israël.

각기 자기 소견에 옳은 대로 행하며 하나님 없이 살면서, 서로 당을 짓고 분내고 저주하며 의리 있는 척하는 우리의 모습이 흉하고 부끄럽습니다. 우리가 한 일의 책임을 하나님께 돌리며 울며 구하다가도, 다시 우리의 마음대로 결정하고 일을 덮으며 무법천지로 돌아가는 우리의 참담함을 불쌍히 여기소서. 우리 주변에서 고통당하는 자들이 속출하고, 우리의 행실이 우리를 고발하거늘 우리는 하나님을 탓하고 우리 자신을 돌이킬 생각을 하지 않습니다. 주여, 이곳에서 우리를 나가게 하소서. 우리에게 출애굽하고 출모압하게 하사, 양식이 있는 곳으로 우리를 이끄소서. 우리의 헐벗음과 굶주림이 헛된 죽음으로 끝나지 않게 하시고, 주의 인애를 따라 우리를 덮어 주소서. 우리가 알지 못하는 사이에도 기업 무를 자를 예비하시는 하나님을 믿게 하시고, 우리의 비참한 자기 소견이 주의 날개 아래에서 생명과 안식으로 바뀌게 하소서.

시편 117편

너희 모든 나라들아 여호와를 찬양하며 너희 모든 백성들아 그를 찬송할지어다
우리에게 향하신 여호와의 인자하심이 크시고 여호와의 진실하심이 영원함이로다 할렐루야

Praise the LORD, all you nations; extol him, all you peoples.
For great is his love toward us, and the faithfulness of the LORD endures forever. Praise the LORD.

117:1-2

주여, 우리는 과거와 현재와 미래에 영원히 존재하시는 하나님의 인자하심이 무엇인지 알지 못합니다. 그 하나님의 진실하심이 어떤 것인지 알지 못합니다. 그저 우리를 좋게 하고 배부르게 하는 소식일 것이라는 막연한 생각으로, 참담하고 배고픈 자리에서 일어나 그곳으로 향합니다. 그곳에서 그리스도 예수를 만나게 하실 때, 이방이었던 우리가 주의 자녀가 됩니다. 영원하신 하나님의 인자하심과 진실하심은 예수 그리스도이십니다. 이것을 기뻐할 수 있는 양심을 우리에게 주소서.
